Set strategically along the banks of the Mara River, Sanctuary Olonana Safari Lodge is a premium tented camp, located in a private area of the Mara Triangle, at the foot of the Siria Escarpment.

The high-end luxury camp is built around sustainability ethos, resulting in them being awarded GOLD certification by Eco Tourism Kenya. Their resident safari guides have also won many responsible tourism awards as their results of their conservation efforts. From the camp, guests can enjoy dramatic views of the Mara River, and game drives nearby get you up close with a high concentration of wildlife, with less safari vehicles and tourists to disturb them.

Sanctuary Olonana features 14 exceptional glass-sided suites (including 2 honeymoon tents), each measuring at least 130 square miles in size. Made from clean flaunt lines and organic materials, each tent has two double four-poster beds with floor to ceiling mosquito netting, en-suite bathrooms and river view verandahs. The floor to ceiling glass doors opens to reveal the Mara River with the resident hippos wallowing. The interiors of the tents have been tastefully and sensitively finished with elegant nature-inspired furnishings, with this creating an ever-present sense of being connected to the great outdoors. The unfaltering attention to detail extends to fully stocked mini-fridges, specially commissioned African art and glamorous ensuites.

Inside the tents, the slate-accented bathrooms have a generous tub, double vanity and a rain shower. 3 of the 14 suites at Sanctuary Olonana feature an extra bedroom, which is ideal for families.

THE GEOFFREY KENT SUITE (GK SUITE)

The Geoffrey Kent Suite was built and creatively designed for the most luxury travelers, those looking for sheer opulence in the middle of Africa’s pristine wilderness. Here, they can immerse themselves in this wildlife experience, connecting with ancient forces of nature, from the secluded ultra-luxury Geoffrey Kent Suite. The generously spacious suite has two private bedrooms, each fully en suite and accessed through a private road. It also has a wraparound private decking area and an infinity pool overlooking the river. Guests occupying the GK suite are allocated their own private guide and safari jeep.

Besides game drives which are offered in open sided safari vehicles, guests can also enjoy guided nature walks in the company of the camp’s top naturalists as well as bush meals. The bush dinner experience is arranged in a private and secluded setting which is illuminated by a log fire and pretty lanterns. We highly recommend this optional activity. We also book Hot Air Balloon Flights out of Olonana safari Lodge. Guests can access Olonana through the nearby Kichwa Tembo Airstrip, although we offer road packages on a case by case basis.
