Mara Elatia Camp- Masai Mara National Reserve

Mara Elatia is a luxury tented camp located in the Masai Mara National Reserve, south western Kenya.

Located along the Oloololo escarpment facing the plains of the Mara Triangle, Mara Elatia Camp sits on the private, 3,000 hectares Partakilat conservancy and overlooks the Masai Mara plains.

The name Elatia means a good neighbor in the Maa language, giving emphasis on the great relationship that the camp shares with the neighboring Masai community.

Opened in December 2022, Mara Elatia Camp Features 16 spacious tented rooms, each fitted with modern ensuite bathrooms, cooling Fans, free Wi-Fi, rain shower and a private balcony.

Of the 16 tents, two of them are inter connecting family tents that have two separate rooms with a common area in between. One wing of the tents at Mara Elatia Camp is wheel chair accessible.

Mara Elatia Camp has a Lounge area with open deck bar for unbridled views of the wildlife. The camp also has a dining area and a Bonfire place overlooking the Mara plains. From the camp, one can see the Serena Hill, Hippo Pools, Little Governors and the Mara River in the horizon.

The camp also faces the faces one of the three ‘Kalema Hills’ from where the epic movie “Out of Africa” was filmed.

Guests staying at Mara Elatia Camp enjoy the benefit of visit the 152 hectares Partakilat wildlife conservancy that is currently home to 8 White Rhinos among other wildlife species. This currently costs USD 40 per person and one does not have to pay the USD 100 to USD 200 per day entrance fees to the Masai Mara if they are not entering the reserve.

From Mara Elatia Camp, there are two descent roads leading to the Mara Triangle reserve and the closest gate is Oloololo gate.

How to get there:

Mara Elatia camp is situated approximately 280 km away from Nairobi city and can be accessed by both air and by road. The nearest airstrip is Kichwa Tembo which is about 15 kilometers away from the camp. Local airlines like Air Kenya Express and Safarilink Aviation have daily scheduled flights to the Masai Mara that last about 50 minutes.

From Nairobi, one can drive to Mara Elatia Camp via Narok town, then to Sekenani Gate from where you can enjoy en route game viewing as you drive through the main reserve towards the Purrungat Bridge from where you proceed to the camp on a drive that would cover about 335 kilometers in total.

Another way to access Mara Elatia Camp from Nairobi by road is on a 280 kilometers drive through Narok town, proceeding to the Ololunga junction that takes you past Ngorongore, Lamek and Aitong before crossing the Mara Rianta Bridge and driving further towards Kawai Shopping Centre and into Mara Elatia Camp.
