Angama Amboseli

Agama Amboseli is a new intimate luxury lodge, located in the heart of Kimana Sanctuary, neighboring Amboseli National Park.

The 5,700 acres Kimana sanctuary is Kenya’s first community-owned conservancy, owned by 844 Masai family members. The wildlife sanctuary is renowned for its lush landscape and remarkable density of wildlife — along with its famed backdrop, Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa, standing at 5,895 meters above sea level.

The lodge is set within a fever tree forest where some of Africa’s last Super Tuskers roam.

Featuring only 10 Guest Suites, Angama Amboseli is respite from the world. It is a haven for the prolific elephant population in this ecosystem, where you can get up close to the relaxed resident herds and their calves as they saunter through the Sanctuary just as you do. The rough texture found on the exterior of the buildings consists of Elephant dung, mixed with concrete.

Each guest area and suite has been designed around uninterrupted views of Mt. Kilimanjaro even from the bed to the vanity mirror.

Designed by the same team that designed other Angama properties, Angama Amboseli has nods from its sister properties, with its inspiration being Elephants rounded shapes, bold and playful nature.

Guests Suites:

Each of the 10 creatively designed suites is a mix of canvas, concrete and stone accented by woven rattan and grass, all in earthy, neutral colours. Each suite is orientated so that Kili can be seen from nearly every corner — from the bed to the shower — while the floor-to-ceiling screened doors are all that lies between you and the snowcapped mountain.

Guests staying at Angama Amboseli have exclusive traversing rights and unrestricted game viewing, offering them an opportunity to enjoy everything; from night drives to early morning Pyjama Safaris.

Thanks to its perennial stream, Kimana Sanctuary that hosts Angama Amboseli boasts the greatest habitat diversity and wildlife density in the area attracting scores of Elands, Reedbucks, Warthogs, Masai Giraffe, Common Zebra and Wildebeests. Some special sightings like the elusive leopard, Cheetah and Serval cat can also be seen here along with many species of birds.

Kimana Sanctuary Walking Safari:

While staying at Angama Amboseli, you a unique opportunity to enjoy a guided walking safari.

Led by an experienced guide and an armed ranger who have incredible knowledge of the terrain, flora and fauna of this little oasis, you will follow animal pathways and tracks, get close to the resident wildlife like Gazelles, Zebra, Warthog and Giraffe, and also observe the smaller inhabitants like antlions and dung beetles up close. This can be an easy walk, ideal for families, or you can explore for longer if you have more energy. It is always advisable to kick off the tour earlier, well before the heat builds up, allowing you to immerse yourself into Amboseli’s distinctive ecosystem at a relaxed pace before you return to the lodge for breakfast.

When not enjoying a game drive, you can relax outside your suite enjoying views of Mt. Kilimanjaro (on a clear day), enjoy a massage at the lodge’s wellness Centre or take a dip at the lodge’s swimming pool, a safe refuge from Amboseli’s day time heat.

Guests can also explore the nearby Amboseli National Park, which is a 45-minutes’ drive from the lodge, and home to over 400 bird species and an array of wildlife.
