Keekorok Lodge
Keekorok Lodge is located inside Masai Mara National Reserve in south western Kenya. The vintage property, which is encircled by over 700 square miles of lush, sun drenched plains was the first one to be built in Masai Mara in 1962. Each room at the traditional styled accommodation has a private patio, and the lodge also has an outdoor swimming pool, with a terrace and nice views of nature.
One unique thing about Keekorok Lodge is its unique and central location inside the reserve. The lodge which is located 15 kilometers from Sekenani Gate is ideally situated in the direct path of the spectacular wildebeest migration that occurs every year from July to October. Prides of Lions, Leopard and other animals are also known to have their territories near Keekorok Lodge. This makes the lodge (Keekorok means a place of black trees in Maa language) ideal for guests seeking to see as much wildlife without necessarily having to drive much around the vast Masai Mara Reserve.
The lodge has a total of 101 guest rooms, with 85 standard rooms, each with a space of 32 square kilometers, more spacious chalets and executive rooms, a premium suite and a presidential suite. The Standard rooms have been furnished with modern, carefully selected custom-made furnishings, that reflect the hotel’s quiet serenity. The rooms have authentically designed décor with perfect views of the Lawns and the Wild. Other features in the room include rain shower, fine teak wood, flat screen TV, mini bar, international standard sockets, safe deposit desk, Free WI-FI and a terrace.
All meals are served at the main restaurant that offers both international and local cuisine. short walk along a wooden platform takes you to the Hippo Bar where you can have a unique experience of observing hippos wallowing in their pool whilst you enjoy your drink. Alternatively, one can follow the path through the trees to the Elephant Deck, a wonderful place from where to observe the surrounding wildlife.
